How to prepare your child for photo day!
To prepare your child for their photos just talk to them about it in the weeks leading up so they understand what to expect. It will be fun! You don’t have to ask them to say "Cheese", we have lots of funny words and noises to make them laugh.
Tell them a lovely lady named Karen will be taking their photo- she's really very nice and will probably ask them to sit on a chair or play somewhere in the yard.
Karens favourite thing to do is ask them to watch the cheeky monkey or look out for other funny friends that may appear!
If they feel nervous or a bit down, tell them that they can ask for a special teacher to come out with them to help them feel more comfortable.
Please dress them appropriately for the weather as this will be an outdoor shoot and try to choose clothes that make your child happy. If you're unsure what to choose, see our “What to Wear Guide” below.

What To Wear Guide
Don't force them to wear anything they dislike. A good idea is to present them with a couple of outfit choices and let them be part of the decision making. Often on photo day children proudly tell us this is their favourite top. We want them to feel as relaxed and as happy as possible to make photo day an enjoyable process.

Clothing made from soft, comfortable fabrics tends to photograph beautifully. Vibrant colours look wonderful on children, but pastels, rich textures, and colours that suit your child are also lovely choices.
Large graphics, logos or cartoon characters can sometimes distract from your child’s expression, which is our main focus. That said, kindergarten photos are about preserving memories of this special age. If your child loves their Bluey shirt or monster trucks and you’d like to capture that stage, please feel free to let them wear it. Some families also like their child photographed in their kindy shirt if they have one.
We take children outside for a variety of photos, so they may be asked to sit, climb, swing, jump or even hula hoop. Clothes that allow easy movement work best.
Most importantly, your child’s comfort comes first. Please dress them for the weather. On warm days, cool breathable fabrics are ideal, and in winter we still photograph outdoors, so cosy jumpers or jackets are perfect. Children are encouraged to keep their warm layers on if they’re feeling cold. These are simply suggestions, the priority is that your child is happy and comfortable in whatever they wear.

Hair
Hair is such a personal thing, and every child has their own style. Because we are meeting your little one for the first time on photo day, we don't know how they usually wear their hair, whether it’s brushed to the side, neatly styled, or happily a little wild and woolly.
If you have a preference, please let us know in the notes section when registering your child so we can style it the way you love.
On photo day we’re always happy to gently freshen things up with a little tousle or a quick brush out of the eyes so we can capture those gorgeous smiles and expressions. However, if you’re hoping for a very neat or styled look, hair products, clips, or ties may be helpful to keep everything in place — little ones are active at this age!

Other considerations:
Sun Safety and Hats - We totally respect and adhere to the sun safety policies. Your child will be in the yard with us for a few minutes only, and our images are generally captured in the shade. We will pop their hats off for this brief time. Some parents like to send in special hats or beanies, and we can include these in a few of the images we capture if requested.
Shoes - On or off? This is up to you, as a parent/guardian. Please specify on the registration form if you have a preference. Otherwise, we will go by the child. On winter or wet days, we do recommend cute boots or running shoes, as the ground is often cold and wet and again, your child's comfort is our priority.
Eyeglasses - If your child wears glasses please tell us if you would prefer them on/off during the photo session. Unless directed differently, we will not take their glasses off. When shooting outside, we do our best to pick shaded spots that reduce glare and reflections on glasses.
Spare clothes or photo outfit - If you want your child to change into a specific outfit for the photos, while at kindy, kindly mention it on the registration form and inform your child's teacher. That way, it won't be missed on a busy photo day.
We always do our best to ensure faces are clean.
